This much‑loved 1920s bungalow in Camberwell was reimagined through a substantial restoration and extension, transforming a tired home into a generous contemporary family retreat. With children growing fast, the brief called for an upstairs zone for the kids, a pool, ample space to entertain, and as much garden as possible.

An existing brick arch on the front façade became the project’s defining motif. This detail is carried through the home, reappearing at the rear as an arched window framing garden views and filling living areas with sunlight. The home’s northern orientation is key, while an overhead skylight brings additional light into the kitchen and meals area. The remaining interiors are calm with splashes of colour.

The home is fully electric and designed for long-term sustainable living, with rooftop solar, heat‑pump systems for heating and the pool, and water storage – all carefully concealed. Camberwell House balances nostalgia, contemporary performance and long‑term family living.
