Located at the center of Merida, Yucatan, Casa Estrella is a project that takes its own name as inspiration to revitalize the history of an old Yucatecan house.
The elegance prevails throughout the entire house thanks to its gama of neutral colors and natural materials such as carved stone, cedar wood and pre-existing vegetation.
It was essential to preserve the existing construction of the original house, which is dedicated to the living room and kitchen-dining room. The original exposed stone masonry walls was preserved, and the pasta tile of the floor was specially selected to combine with the finishes and the concept of the house. From this space you can enjoy a view of the pool, an area where the ancient ruins were respected, maintaining the original texture of its walls as a witness to the passage of time.
The concept of this house is also reflected in the central garden; the roads are accentuated by the contrast of their colors and intertwine as a beam of lights with together of a variety of vegetation creates a relaxing atmosphere.
Private area is at the end of the central garden. This new structure manages to integrate with the original construction of the house by contrast. On the ground floor, the main bedroom has its own outdoor garden while, on the upper floor, the secondary bedroom has access to a terrace. Both have their own bathroom and view towards the central garden.
Casa Estrella is a project in which the essence of the old house and the evidence of the passage of time through it is reflected in the conservation and accentuation of its aged walls, in the stone masonry structure that is left unseen to be a witness of its time. All this together with the addition of a new structure that through its simplicity and its finishes maintains the same language with the old house.
