Set within a corner tenancy overlooking Melbourne's CBD, D&M Wealth Management reconsiders the traditional workplace through a carefully composed arrangement of spaces centred around connection, arrival and experience. Developed by Canopy Fitouts, the project pairs bespoke architectural interventions with a cohesive design language to create a workplace that feels both highly tailored and distinctly its own.
At the heart of the workplace, a sculptural stone island forms the organisational centre of the floorplate. Conceived as a combined reception and hospitality element, it anchors the arrival experience while establishing a place for gathering, conversation and informal exchange. Rather than concealing hospitality within the back of house, the project elevates it into a defining architectural gesture, positioning it as the social focus of the workplace.
The surrounding spaces unfold from this central volume. Executive offices, meeting rooms and open work areas occupy the perimeter of the tenancy, maintaining access to natural light and views across the city. Full-height glazing preserves visual continuity between spaces, while fluted glass introduces a degree of softness and privacy, creating a balance between openness and enclosure.
A recurring vertical language is woven throughout the interior. Brushed brass aluminium bars are embedded within architectural joinery, timber wall panelling and feature elements, establishing a rhythm that extends across the workplace. Read as both architectural detail and integrated artwork, these interventions introduce depth and shadow while reinforcing a sense of continuity between spaces.
This expression finds its clearest resolution within the arrival space, where vertical brass elements are layered through American walnut veneer panelling to create a richly textured composition. As light moves across the surface, the interplay between timber grain, metal and shadow shifts throughout the day, lending the interior a sense of depth and subtle movement. Rather than functioning as decoration, these elements form part of the architectural framework of the project itself.
Custom joinery is treated as an extension of the architecture, reflecting Canopy Fitouts’ emphasis on detail and craftsmanship. From the reception wall and executive credenzas to the boardroom table and hospitality joinery, each element is conceived as part of a unified design language. Carefully resolved junctions, concealed lighting and restrained detailing allow the quality of materials to remain at the forefront of the experience.
The result is a workplace shaped by both clarity and restraint. Anchored by a central point of gathering, the interior unfolds as a series of carefully composed experiences connected through a common architectural language. Through the integration of architecture, joinery and artistic expression, Canopy Fitouts has created an environment that feels considered, enduring and distinctly its own.
