Located in İstanbul Kadıköy, Fenerbahçe House is designed by escapefromsofa in 2022. The house that spreads over a single storey is positioned in an apartment block built in the early 1990s. The project's scope consists of the completion of the lack of spaces and functions and aesthetically responding to the needs of a family of three.

In the design process of the 270-square-meter living space, a spatial organization is considered firstly in line with the demands, habits, routines, and daily flows of the inhabitants. In this sense, the dividing walls of the original 4-room house are demolished and a new 3-room layout is created. More, a spatial flow is planned from the common areas where the inhabitants spend time together to the private areas that offer privacy.

The living room, the heart of the house, is divided into three areas: sitting, lounge and working. The sitting area is defined by the console designed by escapefromsofa which welcomes those entering in. The lounge area, on the right wing of the living room, is arranged around the original fireplace. The surfaces of this area are made in bold colours and textures and the fireplace is covered with handmade ceramics, hence it has a contrasting look different from the living room. More, the lounge area offers an elegant and spacious atmosphere thanks to light and shadow plays created by matte ceramics, polished surfaces, the Konstantin shelf by escapefromsofa, and the lights from the fireplace. The work area, on the left wing of the living room, is completed with the client's antique desk and a modern unit by escapefromsofa.

The former kitchen had lack of space, and to solve this, it merged with the room next to it. It is separated into two parts such as the kitchen and dining area, and these are linked to each other through an arch-shaped doorway by creating a cozy atmosphere. With the desire of the client to see the trees in the front garden of the apartment while lying in the bedroom, the surprising corridor opening from the master bedroom to the kitchen is the most meaningful detail that made the project special. In this sense, the former balcony is added to the master bathroom and it became a part of the corridor that opens from the master bedroom to the kitchen. This design detail also enabled the living space to be navigated in a boat-like manner in one tour.

The ocher-coloured door that divides the corridor of the house into two parts is designed as a defining element of the spatial flow, which is considered such as common and private areas. In this sense, the master bedroom, study room, bedroom, and bathroom are separated from the common areas of the living space, namely the living room, kitchen, and guest WC.

In the project, where bold tones are blended, a dignified and warm living space is created with natural materials. Oak wall coverings in the main corridor follow the soft-formed entrance wall of the living room, creating an inviting transition to this common area, and this approach is supported by the curtain used on the living room door. While the kitchen, in which soft forms with a pastel color palette are used, opens to the master bathroom, a strong design language in forms and vibrant colours are preferred. In the master bedroom, the neutral colour palette is completed with ocher-tone furniture. This approach is followed in the workroom and bedroom as well. In the bathroom of the house, pastel tones are interpreted together with handmade ceramics and lilac marble, while in the guest WC, Elazig cherry marble is harmonised with the ocher-toned palette.

Brand description
Wood, our history since 1832 We would like to spare just a few words to speak about our company, our great passion for wood that has been handed down through so many generations. Our deeply-rooted history consists of more than 150 years of experience in this sector, yet this adventure did not begin with timber, but with the whip handles made from “huckberry”, a particularly elastic and long- lasting tree that grows spontaneously on rocky land. In fact, it is from Trentino, the mountainous region par excellence that the Andreatti family originates. Our company activities which started with whip handles gradually continued to expand until the post- war period (1920) to include also two resinous wood sawmills that imported spruce and larch trunks from all over Europe. The head office of this important enterprise that has broadened its range of treated products to include precious types of hardwood such as oak, walnut and cherryis situated in Bassano del Grappa. 15 years ago, the furniture crisis made us combine the production and the marketing of sawnwood with that of pre-finished flooring and this latter activity has become our “core business”. Our company transformation started in an ambitious way and together with the great willingness to “put ourselves on the line” by investing in new technologies and choosing more suitable materials in order to offer a product that is of the utmost technical and aesthetic quality. The motivation towards innovation blended with the fundamental element of the manual dexterity of the craftsmen during the processing and finishing stages as well as our productive flexibility are our strong points that allow us to be appreciated worldwide and these are the ingredients needed in order to create unique and unmistakable projects. Today, Bassano Parquet presents a rich catalogue with 16 types of wood that enhance our collections with the most exclusive painted, oiled, brushed, hand- scraped and heat-treated finishes.
