The idea behind the project was to transform a former Soviet Union office building into a modern, environmentally friendly educational space for the Green School.
This project reimagines what was once a stark and imposing brutalist structure, turning it into a vibrant environment that fosters learning, creativity, and connection with nature. While the original building’s heavy geometry presented a challenge, our vision was clear — to retain its recognizable form while reinterpreting it through the principles of contemporary and sustainable design.
Through innovative architectural strategies, the once monolithic volume was fragmented into several distinct material blocks, each selected for its natural properties and environmental performance. Wood, stone, and glass form a warm, tactile palette that softens the facade and brings a sense of openness and life to the structure.
The careful integration of these natural materials reflects our commitment to sustainability and human-centered design — inspiring both the surrounding community and future students to appreciate the dialogue between architecture and nature.
The Green School is more than a renovated building; it is a rebirth — a place where education, sustainability, and design coexist in harmony, preparing the next generation for a more conscious and balanced future.
