The history of Campari began when, in 1860, Gaspare invented the famous bitter rosso which, over time, became the symbol of the Italian aperitif ritual. In the subsequent years, the group collaborated with important artists to build the commercial identity of the drink, thereby breathing life into a proper empire built on the brand. To celebrate its 160 year anniversary, the “Infinito Campari” work was launched, curated by sculptor Oliviero Rainaldi, at the Sesto San Giovanni Headquarters. An anthem to life that draws inspiration from the works of two artists who contributed in the past to building the brand’s history: “Il Tempio Campari” by futurist Fortunato Depero and “Lo Spiritello” by illustrator Leonetto Cappiello. Rainaldi reinterprets its identity in a modern and scenic version (Labirinto Telescopico) with a symbolic sculptural declination within it.
Spectators find themselves immersed in a labyrinth that develops around the CG monogram with clear reference to infinity and which houses a sculpture in white Carrara marble, inspired by the famous orange peel of Campiello’s “Lo Spiritello”. The latter, like a further conceptual Russian nesting doll, frees itself from the fruit it represents and reveals itself, to an attentive eye, in two circles that once again represent the letters C and G. Last, but not least, a sealed niche houses a bottle of Campari Bitter, representing the beating heart of the work and of the group.

For the “Infinito Campari” technical lighting project, various Linea Light Group products were selected. We find Arcada, in RGB and single-emission version with radial optics. This marks and highlights the perimeters of the hedges and is mounted on a special, custom support created ad hoc for the project.

The linear element Dirigo, on the other hand, outlines the entire path that leads to the work. A ground-installation profile designed to light walkways and paths, it conceals the source from sight, creating grazed lighting with controlled luminance and without glare. For the work, it was used in the short 50cm version, customised during installation to best adapt to the design needs.
Two products were selected to outline the profile of the sculpture, at the centre of the garden: Iris67 and Orma. Around the work, we find Iris67 projectors with adjustable optics, created specifically for the outdoors and plant lighting, placed on telescopic posts. Last, but not least, inside the sculpture we find the Orma uplight in RGBW version. Its extreme compactness made it the most suitable choice to highlight the contrasts of Rainaldi’s sculptural work.
The technical lighting project was achieved with the integration of the DMX protocol and RealT control units, which allowed numerous lighting scenarios to be created where a wide variety of colours bring the work to life depending on the time of day and the situations.
