“How can we conceive an architecture made from the forest, for the forest, that becomes part of the forest?”

In response to this central question, we arrived at the concept of the “nest,” evoking protection, hospitality, tranquility, and family, and the concept of the “path,” which explores community, shared experiences, forest trails, and the integration of people with nature.

These concepts emerged from an in-depth analysis of the place, its people, nature, and culture, observing the interaction between vegetation and water in the igapós, the reflections on the water, the labyrinthine configuration of the islands, and the nests of yellow-rumped caciques (Cacicus cela).

The oval form and materiality respond directly to these concepts, seeking to integrate the architecture with its surroundings while creating a sensitive and poetic aesthetic. The branches that cover the structures are used to shade the interior of the bungalow in a region where temperatures frequently exceed 30°C.

At the end of their useful life, these branches can be returned to the soil, where they decompose into organic matter and re-enter the natural cycle. This initiative focuses on making use of wood residues generated by small-scale forest management—materials that previously had no commercial value—and transforming them into forest-based products aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 8, 12, and 13: No Poverty; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Responsible Consumption and Production; and Climate Action, respectively.
