KKMK Architect’s new office space is designed to enhance the physical presence and organic collaboration of the team, choosing a distinctive and easily accessible Athenian neighbourhood. The office is located in Lycabettus Hill, an area with cultural depth - as the buildings of the wider neighbourhood reflect the development of Athens city from the neoclassical era and the refugee buildings to the contemporary modern and the multi-property apartment building - and development prospects - with new hotels and upcoming development of a new park at the Panathinaikos stadium in Alexandras Avenue.
The office occupies two levels. The planting at the facade separates the common area of the ground floor from the street, enhancing privacy, while the brown aluminium of the facade coordinates with the tone of the apartment building. Inside, the minimal and clean aesthetic expresses the ideals of KKMK's architectural vision: from the chemistry of the team of architects to the architectural philosophy of simplicity, art and technology. The entrance is clad in oak wood and serves as a setting for an exhibition of the office's works. The corridor extends the concept of the oak display case, with magazines related to the office displayed in it.
The meeting room is an aesthetic statement. The central element is the table made of rare, rough Eretria marble, designed by the architects. It is combined with the well-known chairs by designer Harry Bertoia. The barissol ceiling adds a contemporary feel, completely transformed as a light fixture, which incorporates light scenarios that adapt according to the mood of the space. Another special construction is in the bathroom. With a "jungle effect" aesthetic, plants are placed behind ribbed glass that combines natural light - coming from a sunroof - and artificial.
Overall, the new office of KKMK Architects is a space that honours the architectural concentration and enhances the shared creative experience, combining clean lines with special materials and sophisticated details that indicate the aesthetics and vision of the office. In the era after the global covid pandemic, which has had a huge impact on the nature of workplace, KKMK Architects invests in the philosophy that supports participation and physical interaction. Office work results from teamwork. For the team to be creative and dynamic, it is important to be in a space that promotes this spirit, offering quality, organization and intimacy to all members. Beyond aesthetics, space reflects physical, mental and social well-being.
