Concept
La Tarte Aktash was conceived as a warm, sophisticated space where modern design meets the tactile richness of natural materials. The project merges a refined café atmosphere with architectural clarity, translating the client’s vision of comfort and authenticity into an environment that feels both timeless and local.
The design draws inspiration from the idea of contrast — raw textures meeting smooth surfaces, natural light filtering through delicate curtains, and an interplay of concrete, stone, and wood that defines the tone of the interior.
Exterior
The terrace introduces the project’s dialogue between urban rhythm and crafted intimacy. A patterned stone floor and wrought-iron furniture evoke a European café spirit, softened by greenery and the presence of a sculptural olive tree in a white gravel garden. This landscape element provides a serene pause within the city fabric, anchoring the café in its immediate context.
Interior
Inside, the material palette is composed of natural travertine, smoked oak, and textured glass blocks — elements chosen for their tactile depth and timeless presence. Large windows frame views of the surrounding neighborhood, while soft light filters through the sheer drapery, enhancing the calm and inviting ambiance.
A custom glass-brick partition curves gently through the space, defining zones without obstructing light. The bar and service areas are wrapped in warm wood and stone, balanced by industrial details like exposed ducts and metallic finishes. Furniture with sculptural wooden frames and leather upholstery adds both comfort and precision.
Atmosphere
Every design gesture seeks to create harmony — between intimacy and openness, rawness and refinement. Lighting, furniture, and material transitions are orchestrated to create a rhythm of visual warmth and calm sophistication. La Tarte Aktash ultimately becomes more than a café — it’s a crafted spatial experience that reflects the studio’s philosophy of architecture as atmosphere.
