Designed by Progetto CMR and realized by Progetto Design & Build, the new Digital Customer Experience center for Leonardo Helicopters in Sesto Calende serves as an immersive, highly digitalized hub combining client hospitality, operational monitoring, and collaborative work environment.
The spatial sequence begins at an entry gate where historical photos and corporate artifacts are displayed in modern illuminated vitrines, contrasting with the existing building’s architecture. Visitors then enter a central multimedia gallery equipped with interactive touchscreens, monitors, and integrated lighting and sound systems designed to showcase Leonardo’s aerospace and flight simulation technologies.
The layout integrates two 24/7 operational control units: the Diagnostic Service Tower and the Fleet Operation Center (FOC), which acts as the control tower for flight simulations. Surrounding these high-tech operational zones, flexible open-plan workspaces and reconfigurable collaborative areas support agile workflows. Enclosed meeting spaces feature glass partitions with acoustic drapery to balance daylight exposure with visual and acoustic privacy.
A custom environmental graphic design system reinforces the hi-tech narrative throughout the space. Utilizing geometric elements derived from brand keywords, circles, lines, numbers, and dot patterns, the graphics format glass surfaces, walls, and built-in furniture to reflect the company's identity in flight technology and defense innovation.
