Completed in 2026, LIGHT CAVE is a 107 m² three-bedroom apartment in Kyiv, designed by NUTRO studio for a young, forward-thinking client who values practicality and character in the details. The project extends the studio's "Inhabited Cave" philosophy, treating stone, wood, and scripted lighting not as decoration but as a genuine space of shelter.

Large-format Atlas Concorde porcelain stoneware forms the foundational material, running as a near-seamless monolithic surface across the kitchen island, countertops, walls, and the bedroom's headboard wall. Warm walnut veneer balances the stone's coolness, adding tactility and thermal depth throughout.

"This project was born in the context of wartime Kyiv, so home here is conceived as an autonomous, self-contained, protected space," says Olena Andrieva, CEO and co-founder of NUTRO studio. "'LIGHT CAVE' isn't a metaphor, it's a response to current reality."

Lighting plays a defining structural role: a magnetic track system, spot fixtures, and illumination integrated into furniture and behind stone surfaces replace uniform overhead light with depth and contrast that shift throughout the day. The apartment unfolds as a sequence of mood-controlled zones — a quiet, monochrome entryway with an intimate stone niche; a stone-anchored living/kitchen space fitted with Bosch, Siemens, and Elica appliances; a master bedroom built around a massive illuminated stone headboard; and a spa-like bathroom outfitted with Villeroy & Boch and Sanycces Loop fixtures. A self-contained home office with a Herman Miller Asari chair and a deliberately restrained guest room complete the layout.

"There are no incidental decisions here, only materials, light, and proportions that shape a new quality of living," concludes Danylo Goncharenko, art director and co-founder of NUTRO studio.
