The LiUNA Local 506 Training Centre was designed to meet the growing demand for trade apprenticeship programs, skills training, and certification in the region. It provides training in four programs: construction craft worker, cement finisher, precast erector, and hazmat worker.

BNKC Architects commissioned me to photograph the full project in December 2019. The winter conditions provided some great opportunities for dramatic exterior images. The minimalist snow cover helped emphasize the materials of the building.

The goal of the interior images was to highlight the different learning spaces. Including people in some of the shots helped provide scale and give an idea of the types of activities the building was designed for. The various spaces had very different scales: from long meeting and community spaces requiring wide panoramic shots to very tall training bays that needed a human element to understand their scale.

BNKC Architects designed a successful space that will be enjoyed by the students and the staff alike. I look forward to seeing the landscaping this summer!
