Norwegian pavillion in Expo Shanghai 2010

The pavillion consists of 15 assembled trees which create a sensory and multifunctional ”park” – a complex landscape which encourages physical and social activity while learning about sustainable principles. It also contains a business center and a restaurant.

After the Expo each of the trees can be easily dismantled and erected at other locations serving as shaded park installations, playground or social meetingplaces.

The roof is a four point sail - membrane construction of teflon coated etfe. The main construction is made of gluelaminated timber and an additional layer of chinese bamboo boards. Airconditioning, water-and energy supply, lighting, display- screens and all tecnical installations are integrated in this second layer.

Each tree functions at the same time as construction, infrastructure, furniture, exhibition, playground and information display.

The entire pvillion will be a powerful sensory experience, using a combination of visual, tactile, auditory, and physical stimuli to create scenographic, spatial sequenses.
