A mansion open to the community
El Departamento’s vision for the new Nude Project flagship store in Madrid channels the hedonistic, laid-back atmosphere of iconic Hollywood mansions, transforming the space into a true gathering place for the brand’s community. Spanning 195 square meters with nearly four meters of ceiling height, the store blends timeless sophistication with a bold, urban edge to offer an immersive experience that encapsulates the brand’s DNA. Positioned in a prime location at 28 Fuencarral Street, this “open house” is a space where creativity knows no bounds.
More an just a retail store, the Nude Project flagship is a space with a distinct identity—imbued with the spirit of the legendary 60s to 80s house parties where creativity, passion, and freedom flowed without restriction. Embracing this philosophy, the design studio has conceived a barrier-free haven where artists, rebels, and creative minds can feel at home.
The spatial concept—developed by El Departamento co-founders Alberto Eltini and Marina Martín—fuses classical elements with contemporary materials. Dark wood and coffered ceilings evoke the timeless elegance of grand Californian residences, while acrylic, steel, and meticulously planned technical lighting add a modern, urban character that aligns perfectly with Nude Project’s identity. A fluid, uninterrupted layout enhances the sense of a home-like environment where every space connects naturally with the next.
A journey through three rooms
The store’s journey begins in the entrance hall, where a circular wood and steel counter featuring Nude Project’s backlit logo welcomes visitors. This area showcases the brand’s streetwear collections alongside a cozy lounge with sofas and low tables, designed to encourage connection and conversation. A curved library shelf filled with books and brand objects creates a moment of pause amid the store’s dynamic flow. Terrazzo flooring in soft white and washed green tones lends a vintage touch, while technical lighting highlights the products on display.
From there, a hallway inspired by classic "Hall of Fame" designs leads to the music room—a wood-clad space with floor-to-ceiling shelves that house a curated selection of vinyl records. Sculptural speakers and green leather armchairs rest atop a vintage Persian rug, reinforcing Nude Project’s artistic soul. Overhead, a green velvet ceiling and a warm, domestic glow from Santa & Cole’s Tekio lamp complete the intimate ambiance.
The journey culminates in the game room, where the fitting area merges with a poker table that also functions as a product display. Wood-paneled walls feature curved shelving, while the brand’s signature baby blue flooring and stainless steel details create dynamic reflections and contrasts that enhance the sophisticated, urban aesthetic. The backlit coffered ceiling adds a sense of depth and exclusivity, enveloping the space in a vibrant, cinematic light.
