Palazzo Pianca: a new hotel in Venice designed as an applied research project

A new hotel in Venice designed to explore the meaning of hospitality: Palazzo Pianca

Pianca has created a hotel in an elegant 16th century palazzo located in the historic centre of Venice, Italy. The project interprets the requirements and trends of travel and living today, combining past and contemporary elements.

A warm welcome, but also an ongoing study and exploration of style and function for temporary living spaces. A stone's throw from Saint Mark's Square, in historic Venice, a hotel has been created that is also an ideas factory for lifestyles: a project designed by Pianca - Veneto furnishing complements specialist - to explore and interpret the requirements and trends of living and travel today.

Palazzo Pianca stands in the historic centre of Venice, between the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio and the Grand Canal, in an elegant 16th century palazzo. This is an applied research project, a Research Hub that Pianca wanted to explore the meaning of hospitality: a hub for experimenting with hospitality styles and trends destined to be modified over time in order to constantly test and introduce new style and function solutions.

Situated near famous historic and cultural attractions like Saint Mark's Square, La Fenice Theater and the Accademia Galleries, Palazzo Pianca is founded on its strong bond with the city, expressed through panoramic views, at the same time offering itself as an ideas factory: to constantly update perception of the role of design, to study the relationships between form and function.

The comfortable, inviting atmospheres of the rooms were primarily designed with the well-being and comfort of guests in mind. The Veneto company's trademark clean lines, textural combinations and natural elegance are the defining qualities of the hotel's ambiance: the lighting and colours, vivid or neutral, inspired by the typical colours of the Venetian façades, are a constant reference to the city's tradition.

The Deluxe rooms – Botanic, Penthouse Deluxe Blue & Brown and Artist – are also comfortable and welcoming with their brilliant fabrics and colours, as are the compact, inviting Classic rooms, including a writing-desk and open closet combined with warm shades and soft lighting. A rooftop area rounds off the project, offering a panoramic view over the city of Venice.

“Palazzo Pianca is more than just a hotel,” explains the company president, Aldo Pianca, “It is a challenge for us that we accepted with immense pride and a desire to prove ourselves, right from the start. The building is an oasis of tranquillity in the heart of the city. It contains spaces that far exceed the pure concept of hospitality, offering itself as a place which explores all of the constantly-shifting forms of living and travel today.
