A recently completed Belgian-inspired farmhouse set on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula has resulted in a private retreat where a subtle palette and materiality meld seamlessly. The project was an opportunity to feature indoor and outdoor lighting, including pieces predominantly from Articolo’s Fizi and Scandal collections, while Moni, Trilogy, Eclipse and Lumi collections also feature.

“When approaching lighting design for the project, I worked to develop a cohesiveness between elements of scale and natural light and the ambience created by Articolo lights. We created a sense of continuity using the same Mid Bronze finish throughout the home, marrying one space with the next.”
Nicci Green, Articolo Founder and Creative Director.

Articolo was entrusted in bringing warmth and soul to the home and creating a rural retreat. The clutter-free farmhouse stays genuine to its rural roots through a subdued palette and refined lighting selection. Located just five minutes from Merricks beach and less than 90 minutes behind from Melbourne’s CBD, this home is underpinned by a restorative colour palette and softly-lit contemporary spaces, the perfect setting to reset and recharge. Bookended by a master suite at one end and a children’s wing at the other, the home’s heart is a light-drenched open-plan gathering for the family of 5. Featuring five bedrooms, five bathrooms an open plan design, with superb gardens surrounding the home, created by the celebrated Nathan Burkett landscape architect.

The kitchen is the heart of the home and orientated to maximize the connection with the family living space and the views beyond, the space is defined by form and material, with the Fizi Single Ball Wall Sconce on the back wall of the kitchen, creating a connection to the far end of the living room with the Triple Fizi Ball Wall Sconce. A raked ceiling adds a new dimension to the home and hosts a bespoke Extra Large Moni Pendant, softening the space with its organic, fluid form that is perfectly proportioned. Each fixture was purposefully selected to enhance the shadow play of light, creating a sense of atmosphere and soul, particularly in the evening.

The animation of light dances within the space and changes with the seasons. The inherently sculptural forms and defining hallmarks of Articolo transcend seamlessly from the indoor to the outdoor spaces, creating atmospheric enhancement within the home's spaces, with subtlety, scale and sublime artisanal craftsmanship.
