Profesörler House

Located within the Bornova Professors’ Housing Complex, Profesörler House, welcomes its residents through a layered garden path framed by steel pergolas and lush greenery. Carefully placed lighting blends architecture and landscape into a calm evening rhythm, transforming the approach into a curated moment of arrival. The spatial organization is structured around a U-shaped configuration opening toward the garden, allowing the interior spaces to establish a strong visual and spatial relationship with a central open void. Along the lateral boundaries, the relationship with neighboring homes is carefully controlled through more solid and enclosed wall surfaces, reinforcing privacy. This approach creates an inward-focused living atmosphere while positioning the garden-facing void as the focal point of the spatial experience. Beyond the garden, a grove defined by tall trees extends the natural landscape, enhancing both spatial depth and the quality of views.

The interior is defined by transparency, tactile surfaces, and a warm material palette, ensuring a fluid and cohesive transition between spaces. Steel-framed glass partitions enhance openness, while the staircase emerges as a sculptural element, connecting levels through a soft rhythm of light.

The transition between the kitchen and living area is framed by floor-to-ceiling glass partitions, offering both connection and a sense of calm, where warm materials meet clean, modern lines. Custom dark wood cabinetry, Italian ceramic surfaces, and filtered garden light elevate everyday routines into moments of quiet luxury.

The connection between interior and exterior is defined by full-height sliding panels, establishing a seamless relationship with the landscaped garden. The outdoor seating area extends the spatial continuity of the living space outward, while the surrounding landscape composition gently frames the space. The monolithic expression of the façade and refined material palette emphasize the definition of the building’s massing, giving the structure a strong and grounded presence within its context.

The master bedroom establishes a sophisticated dialogue between material and form. A matte black paneled wall, paired with a dynamic marble slab, balances the spatial composition. Integrated ambient and task lighting shape the volume, expressing a precise and purposeful design language. The ensuite bathroom continues this approach with Italian ceramic surfaces and minimalist fixtures, achieving both spatial definition and tactile richness.

Designed as an extension of the bedroom’s architectural language, the workspace niche is defined by clean lines and a neutral tonal palette. The combination of warm greys and matte textures reinforces a sense of calm, while its recessed geometry maintains visual continuity within the overall composition.
