In this project, we have breathed new life into a family-inherited penthouse in Barcelona, redesigning every space to meet the present and future needs of a young couple starting a new chapter as parents. This major renovation covers two distinct floors: the main floor, where daily living takes place, and the upper floor, which has been transformed into an exceptional rooftop area with a private pool and leisure zone.
The main floor has been completely reconfigured with thoughtful design and a circular layout, creating functional, modern, and inviting spaces. A palette of neutral and organic colors visually enlarges each room while adding tranquility and elegance; touches of black emphasize the home’s contemporary style.
The living room stands out as the heart of the home, organized into two distinct areas: a cozy sofa nook for relaxation, and a dining space beneath a lower double drop ceiling with indirect lighting and two pendant lamps. A modern enclosed gas fireplace brings warmth and sophistication. Glass sliding doors with black frames and multiple retractable panels seamlessly connect the kitchen and entryway to the living room, maximizing natural light and spaciousness.
The kitchen features a central island that serves as a secondary dining area, with the rest of the cabinetry arranged in parallel to maximize workspace. Practical features include a built-in laundry area and a dedicated coffee station, as well as generous storage solutions.
The main suite is an intimate retreat, offering a walk-in wardrobe, double vanity bathroom, and a bed zone unified by a corridor adorned with wall mirrors that amplify the sense of brightness and space. The wall behind the bed is a focal point, featuring a dark wood headboard, floating bedside tables, and a textile mural framed with wood strips. The main floor also comprises two additional bedrooms, a second full bathroom, and a home office—completing the home’s function-first approach.
Upper Floor & Terrace: An Urban Private Oasis
The upper floor completely transforms the penthouse’s social and outdoor experience. It includes a cozy sitting area, convenient kitchenette, and guest WC, making daily life more comfortable without the need to go downstairs. The real highlight here is the terrace with its circular layout, featuring a fully renovated private pool—with a stylish staircase and submerged bench—a solarium, chill-out areas, al fresco dining set-up, and a barbecue zone with sink and countertop.
Thoughtfully selected furnishings and built-in seating with planters make every corner functional and inviting. The slatted wooden railing grants privacy without sacrificing views and a sense of openness. All installations have been updated, with special attention to ambient lighting that defines each nighttime atmosphere, transforming the terrace into a true urban oasis for year-round enjoyment with family and friends.
