Sparks Medical Office Building

Located adjacent to the Madison County Courthouse in London, Ohio, this medical office building is the first new building to be constructed in the downtown historic district in more than twenty years.

This single story building is designed to accommodate medical office suites and a pharmacy, each situated around a central lobby. WSA Studio worked with owner and pharmacist Ernie Sparks to design a space where his new busines plan would flourish. As an established local business owner, Ernie was determined to maintain his connection to the community and stand out from the wave of commercialchains that had moved in to the area.

The architecture of Sparks Medical Office Building responds and connects to the historic and rural context by matching the adjacent scale and using local building materials. The glass facade creates a visual connection and presence in downtown London.

Ernie’s Pharmacy has expanded its business since occupancy. The building has been fully leasedwith medical practices and the pharmacy, which have benefited from their co-location in the same building. The pharmacist has stated that his work is more enjoyable in his new environment.
