Karl und Bremhorst Architects have impressively brought the new Vienna Sports Arena to shine.
The facade is defined by a translucent outer shell, in which polycarbonate plays a central role. In total, around 9,000 square meters of high-quality surface materials cover the building. The translucent polycarbonate panels, produced by the Rodeca GmbH, not only create a modern, transparent aesthetic but also ensure pleasant natural interior lighting.
On the site of the former Ferry Dusika Stadium, a multifunctional sports center is being built that brings together a variety of sports under one roof and offers flexible usage options. Looking to the future, the building will be operated in an energy-autonomous manner.
Polycarbonate facades offer outstanding light transmission, enabling clear lines of sight and a high degree of design flexibility thanks to a variety of surface and structural options. The uniform transparency creates a bright, open atmosphere both inside and out, harmonizing effortlessly with existing color and material concepts. Additionally, diffuse light diffusion ensures even illumination with reduced glare, giving architects greater freedom to create light-optimized facade concepts.
The combination of a robust facade structure and durable building components contributes to the building’s long-term functionality and operational performance.
