The house, originally distributed in three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and living room, had ceased to be functional for its owners, who were looking for larger, open and connected spaces. They didn't need so many independent rooms, instead, they wanted a spacious kitchen where they could spend much of their daily life cooking, working and sharing moments with friends.

We chose to integrate the kitchen with the third room, generating a bright, comfortable space designed to be lived and shared. One of the main objectives of the project was to maintain the privacy of each environment without giving up a sense of continuity. The owners were looking for a clean space, without visual noise, in which the essentials predominated.

For this, a continuous microcement floor was chosen, a material that was also used to cover the walls of one of the bathrooms and the kitchen, providing a uniform and serene image. In order to avoid an excessively flat result, natural oak sliding doors were designed, extending this material even to the heads to reinforce the feeling of height and warmth, in contrast to the gray tone of the floor.

These doors, together with the customised modules and the work library of the living room, become the key elements of the house, bringing personality and warmth to the whole. The bookstore, designed entirely to measure, responds to the need to house the collection of vinyls and books of the owners, reflecting their good taste and their link with music.

This element not only fulfils a practical function, but also acts as a protagonist piece within the space. Also, a custom-made table was designed that, on a daily basis, works as a desk, but that at specific times can be deployed and transformed into a 2 x 1m dining table, adapting to the different needs of use. As in most of our projects, practically all the furniture was designed and manufactured to measure by our trusted carpenters, guaranteeing a coherent aesthetic throughout the house and optimising the available space to the maximum.

In the kitchen, simple elements were selected that provide luminosity and reinforce the sense of order, initially leaving the main role to the island, as the centrepiece of the space. For this, a terrazzo style countertop from the Compact brand was chosen. However, it is the wooden lamp of the Lucifer brand that belonged to the owners, which was reused and thanks to its scale and geometry, ends up becoming, almost unexpectedly, the great protagonist of the kitchen, bringing character, volume and warmth to the whole.
