Plinth House is a landmark 3,000 sqm private coastal villa in Kuwait, completed in 2025 under the full architectural, interior, and landscape scope of Cambra Buró, an international studio with offices in Spain, Florida, and Kuwait. Its defining concept is a refined dialogue between weight and lightness: a sculpted travertine plinth grounds the building, while the upper volume rises with a quiet, monumental presence.
What truly distinguishes this project is its sustainability-led approach, embedded from the very beginning of the design process. Advanced façade insulation, solar integration, and greywater recovery systems are not add-ons, but integral components shaping the architecture. Natural, high-performance materials such as cork insulation, magnesium boards, ash blocks, and clay renders enhance thermal efficiency, durability, and indoor wellbeing, while reinforcing a responsible approach to luxury living.
This vision is expressed through a refined and highly curated design language, where every detail balances performance with aesthetics. Plinth House also stands apart through its complete rejection of standard solutions, with every element uniquely conceived for the project.
It was the first luxury villa in Kuwait to integrate cork insulation, magnesium boards, ash blocks, clay renders, and greywater recovery as a unified holistic system.
The spatial programme unfolds as a sequence of curated experiences—arrival, gathering, retreat, and contemplation—each tailored to a distinct way of living. The 4.2-metre-high colonnade creates a strong first impression, leading to the liwan, which connects interior and exterior through a monumental arched walnut door. The open kitchen is designed as a social space, while the 150 sqm master suite forms a private, self-contained retreat.
This experiential approach is reinforced by a spatial layout that clearly separates public, guest, and private areas, ensuring fluid circulation while preserving privacy. Elements such as shaded balconies, indoor car parks, and a central atrium enhance natural light, ventilation, and a continuous connection to greenery, enriching everyday living.
