The Whitehouse had occupied one half of the fifth floor of an 1893 building in the River North area of Chicago. After looking at larger spaces in other buildings the entire fifth floor became available and Bolander saw the potential in the 19 foot ceilings and nearly full-height windows. Original elements had been removed and dark wood paneling and trim were added in renovations over the years. The main goals of this renovation were to expose original brick and structural steel and bring more light into the 17,000 sq. ft. space. The light tone of the exposed brick, wood slats and white epoxy floors help to brighten the office. Steel desks, plywood tables and some Modernica sofas are designed by Bolander. The rest of the furniture is mostly vintage with new fabric to add needed color.
