The first prize of the architectural competition for the new U5 station at Hauptbahnhof Nord was awarded to the proposal by blrm Architekt*innen GmbH (Hamburg) in collaboration with Gottlieb Paludan Architects A/S (Copenhagen, DK).

The design proposes a careful transformation and enhancement of the existing station, preserving its architectural qualities while accentuating them through the addition of subtle and considered elements. The concept is guided by a respectful and resource-conscious approach to the existing structure – reduction instead of overdesign, addition instead of replacement.
