Villa ENSO is a contemporary residence located in La Reserva de Sotogrande, designed by Manuel Ruiz Moriche, co-founder and Creative Director of ARK Architects. Conceived as an architecture of continuity, the project explores the relationship between space, light, nature, and emotional wellbeing through a language of soft geometries and fluid spatial transitions.
Inspired by the symbolic concept of the circle, ENSO unfolds organically within its natural surroundings, opening toward panoramic views of the golf course and the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is carefully integrated into the topography, creating a seamless dialogue between architecture and landscape. Hidden courtyards introduce natural light and ventilation into the interior spaces, generating dynamic atmospheres that evolve throughout the day.
The project is rooted in the principles of bio-architecture, where sustainability and human experience become essential components of the design process. Large glass surfaces dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, allowing gardens, reflections, and natural light to become part of everyday living. Rather than imposing itself on the environment, the architecture seeks harmony with it.
Materiality plays a central role in defining the identity of the house. Natural materials such as Teruel Travertine marble, with sandblasted open-pore finishes, were selected for their tactile warmth, durability, and timeless quality. The restrained palette reinforces the villa’s calm and contemplative atmosphere while allowing the architecture to age naturally over time.
With a plot area of 2,778 sqm and a total built area of 1,690.40 sqm, Villa ENSO was conceived as a peaceful sanctuary where architecture supports a slower, more conscious way of living. Through light, proportion, materiality, and landscape integration, the project reflects ARK Architects’ vision of creating timeless spaces deeply connected to both people and place.
