Interior of villa Reef, Zakynthos

This villa explores a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean minimalism through its interiors. The project was conceived as a sanctuary of calm, where natural light, tactile materials, and precise detailing work together to create an atmosphere of understated luxury.

The interior design is guided by the principle of serenity through simplicity. Spaces are defined by a warm and natural palette, with oak wood as the protagonist. Vertical wooden slats articulate walls, doors, and built-in furniture, bringing rhythm and texture to the interiors. The continuity of materials across rooms enhances the sense of flow and unity, while neutral plastered surfaces and soft textiles complement the tactile warmth of wood.

The living area forms the heart of the villa. A generous open-plan layout connects the lounge, dining, and kitchen spaces, allowing for fluid transitions between daily activities. A sculptural sofa in textured fabric anchors the living room, paired with bespoke black coffee tables that contrast the softness of the seating. Behind it, the wooden wall with integrated shelving provides both storage and a refined architectural backdrop.

The dining area continues this balance of raw and refined. A large solid oak table sits beneath a series of sculptural pendant lamps, creating a visual rhythm that echoes the vertical lines of the interiors. Black woven chairs add a crafted detail, while floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the space to natural light, turning the dining experience into a dialogue between materiality and landscape.

The kitchen is treated as a crafted object within the open plan. Fluted wooden cabinetry and a precise island design bring both warmth and functional clarity. Minimal hardware and integrated appliances allow the focus to remain on the tactile qualities of wood and stone.

Bedrooms are conceived as intimate sanctuaries. Soft neutral tones, upholstered headboards, and natural fabrics create a soothing environment. Pendant lights add a handcrafted touch, while each room maintains a direct relationship to natural light and framed views. Bathrooms extend this narrative of crafted minimalism, with stone basins, circular mirrors with ambient lighting, and wooden storage elements that emphasize both function and atmosphere.

Throughout the villa, the design reflects a belief that true luxury lies in restraint and detail. Rather than relying on ornament, the project highlights the beauty of natural materials, precise craftsmanship, and the calm rhythm of repetition. An interior that feels timeless, tactile, and deeply connected to the philosophy of Mediterranean living.
