Development of a joint-use library and learning hub is a core component of the social infrastructure needed to support the future creative economy of Warrnambool. The Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre is a joint partnership between the Victorian State Government, South West TAFE and Warrnambool City Council. Located at the heart of a campus that includes four places listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, the project is comprised of a three-storey contemporary addition linking to the existing Gun and Orderly Room constructed in 1868, which was also extensively refurbished to create the new main entry to the building. The ambition for the project is to produce an outcome of design excellence that will be the community anchor for South West TAFE and Warrnambool Cultural Precinct and have its own identity as a community asset.
