YAMADA HOUSE

SIAA_ as Architects

Through a direct relation with the landscape, in which the volumes of the house are valued, no fronts or funds were determined. The walls themselves determine what is inside or outside the building, prescinding the boundary walls.

This premise settles the construction of a volume almost closed on the sides, as opposed to facades facing the street and the lake, At first sight, the terrain reveals the difficulty to be faced: the implantation of a house on a small hill still unoccupied in counterpoint with the unavoidable occupation of the neighboring lots since it's located inside a residential condominium.

with openings that provides the best landscape views and adequate insolation. This solution also adds to the internal organization of the residence and the required privacy in relation to future neighboring buildings.

The two volumes program organization suggested the separation in a bedroom block and a living block. The first is deployed near the highest point of the terrain, while the second volume is 3.8 meters below, allowed by the sharp declivity of the terrain.

This arrangement guarantees independent access to pedestrians and vehicles, and also enables the creation of a terrace on the dormitory block roof, which is designed as a direct extension of the living room.

The house is built with three main walls of exposed concrete block masonry. Two of them support precast concrete slabs capable of overcoming a 10.5m span, while the third defines the circulation range that interconnects the two blocks and the different dimensions.
