Wrightstyle’s SG blast resistant curtain wall facade system offers a significant development in the design of blast mitigation glazing systems.
The system provides protection from an explosion in close proximity to the façade and Wrightstyle has live tested its system against both car and lorry bomb attack – 500kg of high explosive, and you can see the video here.
Importantly, the narrow 60mm sightline, in combination with the structurally glazed exterior, gives the appearance of non-specialised steel curtain wall facade system, allowing designers to move away from the wide profiles normally associated with blast resistant systems.
Wrightstyle’s advanced glazing system is constructed using a plastic medium that remains elastic under pressure, with the glass absorbing and dispersing the impact pressure wave, and avoiding the fragmentation associated with normal glass, widely acknowledged as the main cause of injury when a building is subject to an explosive attack.
