    Finish Details - Acrylic Black:

Acrylic latex coatings offer the best color durability on the market by being high adhesion, high build and solid color. This finish is designed to withstand challenging exterior environments, has been tested in the field for over 60 years and carries a limited manufacturer warranty of 25 years.

Gendai® is our most commonly specified yakisugi “shou sugi ban” surface for exterior applications. A light single brushing process knocks down the heavy soot layer and leaves a smooth, silky appearance with subtle burnt fiber crevasse shadows. Gendai can either be installed with or without an oil prefinish.

Traditional yakisugi siding is made by charring the surface of Japanese cedar to enhance its durability and aesthetic beauty. Originally used to protect homes from fire, decay, and insects, it’s now a defining material in modern architecture.
