PROGRESS Doppelwand is a semi-precast double-wall system comprising two smooth, low-porosity reinforced-concrete leaves connected by lattice girders. Project-specific structural reinforcement is incorporated during manufacture. Once erected, the cavity between the leaves is filled with in-situ concrete, producing a monolithic loadbearing wall while the precast leaves serve as permanent shuttering.

The system combines factory-controlled production with the structural properties of in-situ concrete construction. Its permanent shuttering reduces conventional site-based formwork, while factory-integrated reinforcement, openings, and other components can reduce on-site labour, material waste, and construction time. The smooth concrete surfaces can also limit the amount of additional finishing required. Concrete’s durability, thermal mass, and relatively low maintenance requirements support a long service life, while the mineral material can be processed as recycled aggregate and the steel reinforcement recovered at end of life.
