Reference projects
In 2021, students at Mayette, Séquoïa, and Providence schools in Vinay, Isère, started using a new canteen designed by the architecture firm of Thierry Dubuc. The canteen focuses on both attractiveness and functionality to enhance the children's experience. The building features a 100 percent glass façade and requires optimal thermal and visual protection against heat and glare while seamlessly integrating with the façade. The architect chose Mermet®’s Satiné 5500 fabric in warm color 0909 Mandarin for the almost five-meter tall interior blinds manufactured by Warema. These blinds provide excellent glare control due to the fabric's diagonal weave, filtering up to 96 percent of sunlight, effective heat protection, a clear outdoor view owing to its unparalleled transparency, and easy cleaning with just a damp sponge. Additionally, they offer outstanding dimensional stability for perfect flatness in tall blinds.
The Hospital Center - Voiron project involved installing 640 motorized external roller blinds with Satiné 5500 fabric in color 3030 Charcoal. This fabric rejects 96 percent of solar energy, providing excellent protection against heat, glare control, maximum natural light, and clear vision outdoors. The project was carried out by Gautier + Conquet, Nickl & Partner, Ates, Samuel Moraud, and Mermet SAS. Additionally, 62 internal roller blinds with SV 5 percent fabric in color 3030 Charcoal were installed for windows where external blinds could not be fitted for security reasons. These internal roller blinds offer good glare control, maintain the view outside, and provide optimal thermal comfort.
ZIP exterior blinds were installed in 15 schools in Poissy, near Paris, as part of the town's 2020 heat wave plan to protect students from heat and save energy. The blinds were made by MERMET and feature Satiné 5500 fabric, which effectively controls glare and rejects maximum of solar energy, helping to maintain a comfortable environment in the classrooms. The blinds reduce the need for air conditioning and save energy on lighting by allowing natural light to enter. The fabric is durable and offers excellent dimensional stability. A "test" school with temperature and light sensors showed that the blinds significantly reduced the temperature in the classrooms, providing a more comfortable environment for the students. Sun protection is now an important factor in sustainable building design, reducing energy consumption and enhancing the comfort and well-being of building occupants. MERMET offers a range of sun protection fabrics suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, recognized for their thermal and optical performance.
