Re-use of an existing one-storey office building resulted in a distinctive building, which became the new working environment for the architect firm itself. Because the original building was designed for two stories, it was possible to place a light steel construction on top of the existing one. Internally the building is completely stripped and provided with a new division and interior. Transparency, daylight, spatiality and play of colours are the characteristics of this project and the architectural ambition of A12 Architecten in general. The facades of the new level show various sights. The northern and eastern facades are mostly carried out in glass, at the south and westside of the building the facades are more closed, consisting of aluminium cladding with thin vertical windows. Through an ingenious system of sliding polycarbonate panels daylight can be softened at each individual workplace.
