Urban Breathing Block

Antalya Urban Breathing Block is an unbuilt mixed-use architectural project proposing a new pedestrian-oriented urban framework in Antalya, Turkey. The project integrates
residential, commercial, and public functions within a cohesive spatial system shaped by Mediterranean climate conditions.

The design prioritizes open courtyards, shaded pedestrian streets, and semi-open transitional spaces to enhance natural ventilation, daylight access, and outdoor comfort throughout the year. Building masses are carefully positioned to preserve sunlight, wind flow, and visual continuity across the site, while creating a clear hierarchy of public, semi-public, and private spaces.

By limiting vehicular circulation and emphasizing walkability, the project introduces a
human-scaled urban environment that supports social interaction and everyday life. The architectural language is defined by durable, natural materials and climate-responsive elements, aiming to establish a contemporary yet contextually grounded urban destination for Antalya.
