Located next to Bungo Central Station, in the Port of Luanda area, the project consists of the renovation and expansion of an existing building, covering 1,500 m² on a 17,200 m² plot. The aim was to create a contemporary market for collective use, dedicated to food and leisure, capable of enhancing the location and reinforcing its urban centrality.

The intervention preserves the existing structure and walls, while expanding and redesigning the roof with a new metal structure, allowing greater natural light to enter without compromising the thermal comfort of the space.

The market is organized into two main floors and a third level for management and administration offices. On the ground floor, there are 31 food kiosks, support areas, staff changing rooms, warehouses, a central kitchen, and a loading bay. The first floor is made up of 14 kiosks, a restaurant, terraces, and seating areas. Both floors have restrooms for all users, including people with reduced mobility.

The pedestrian entrance is through a large outdoor plaza, designed for outdoor seating and socializing, which serves as a meeting point and extension of the market into the public space. Vertical circulation is provided by two stairwells and two elevators, ensuring universal accessibility. The surrounding area also offers 290 parking spaces.

More than just a commercial and service building, the Bungo Market is an urban facility with a strong social and cultural impact, combining functionality, spatial quality, and a contemporary architectural design that enhances the territory and its identity.
