A renovation project in an apartment part of the iconic Terraços de Bragança complex, designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, on the slopes of Rua do Alecrim in Lisbon.
The proposal was based on the need to enlarge and smooth out the social spaces of the apartment, which had previously been compartmentalized. The demolition of a small suite and the pantry made it possible to reorganize the kitchen area, now with a full view of the Tagus River and marked by a generous central island that structures the space.
The dining and living rooms, originally separated by a wall, were unified into a single continuous environment, defined around a bioethanol fireplace. This element, proposed as a focal point, establishes an informal division between the two zones, both facing a large balcony with a direct connection to the suites.
The private areas have also been renovated with a subtle contemporary language that respects the identity of the building and the original lines of the design.
