Modernity, apparent materiality, regional look and momentum of tranquility, Casa Felix (Felix House)
This house its located In the oustskirt of the metropolitan zone of Guadalajara in Mexico, built in a private condominum in accordance with this modern times full with the need of security. Disegnd and built by el Mhd. Ar. Esteban Bojorquez for the mexican firm Bojórquez Arquitectos, this home was proyected for a PhD academic profesor that Works in the local university (Universidad de Guadalajara). She (the academic) wanted a modern space, simple and elegant ve her that feeling of tranquility common in the local architecture.
The house, built entirely whit local techniques, from the foundation in masonry till the lifting of the walls and vaults made with bricks, it was thought from the beggining in local materials do to the request of the propietress, everything got in Tlajomulco, a town in the Jalisco State know for the artisan manufacture of the bricks, making them the best in the region.
Do to the need of the client it was decided to create a facade that expres the modern juxtapotition of geometrical elements and whose materials in itself work as a chromatich contrast. Therefor, a cube frame the principal entrance of the house, the Wood is confronted with the main element, apparent brick.
The interior has the intention to denote a kind of visual sketches. When the user enters the house meets a double height cut by a bridge of apparent beams, it is precisely in that double height where the contrast is tried. This is achieved because it have a vault with thin white color, a skydome that illuminates the bridge area and a vault of apparent brick that crowns the entire space, it is this vault that is highlighted by the straight lines of the skylight. It should be noted that for this type of vaults, a specialist was hired from the area of "Lagos", in Jalisco state, in that region it is one of the usual practices in its regional architecture, but with time and modernity has been lost.
Both interiors and exteriors have the intention of expressing simplicity avoiding elements that visually clash with the aesthetics of the residence,
because the space itself had to be cozy for the client thinking about his future retirement.
