The house is built for a family of four on a property which has a town plan from the year 1967. Therefore, the plan forces to have saddle roofs as well as a tight and centric panel.
In addition to the large space allocation plan a generous and open room formation was favored. According to the wishes a compact basic structure is evolved with an annex for the garage as well as the main entrance on the ground floor. On top of that here is a huge halation that works as an access to the extra apartment within the house in the basement. A great airspace which goes up to the roof shows a determining element in respect of the physical structure as well as the guidance of the light. Consequently, it is a division and a connection of all areas at the same time.
A mixture of construction like the concrete used on the ground floor just as the wood on the upper floor is also shown on the fronts of the building. Walls with exposed concrete and wooden laggings were used, even up to the roofline. Due to the combination of thermally insulated walls, a groundwater heat pump, floor heating in every room as well as a controlled domestic ventilation with heat recovery, an very high energy standard is reached. On top of that the south side of the roof is covered with a PV-system.
For the Traum-house and a lot of other projects DOMO plans and creates a holistic design with a combination of interior, garden and architecture. The property is always seen as a whole system, where these three parts of creating and designing work together. Not only the appearance of the new house is important but also the way how to live inside as well as outside. Only by combining these aspects it becomes harmonic.
