Ellington Hotel

Afternoon tea dance, theatre and jazz as well as early disco trends are probably the most characteristic features of the history of the former “Haus Nürnberg”. Located in the heart of Berlin, the historical building today houses the stylish Ellington Hotel. Where legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong used to entertain their audience guests can today enjoy the casual elegance of the 4-star hotel.

The building, which is listed today, was erected in the “golden twenties”. 185 metres long, four storeys high and adorned by staircase towers, rows of windows and large shop windows, the striking, dynamic facade is a truly impressive sight.

The heads of Berlin-based architects Reuter Schoger Architekten Innenarchitekten transformed the traditional building into a modern masterpiece, retaining many of the stylistic features of long bygone times. A special feature of the hotel are the many different room types, which are due to the fact that the guest rooms had to be designed on the basis of the existing proportions of the building.

The innovative architects, who attached top priority to stylistic diversity, also developed highly creative ideas for the sanitary facilities. Most of the bathrooms are not separated from but integrated into the rooms. With its simple, unobtrusive design, the GROHE Essence faucet blends in harmoniously with the respective environment of the guest rooms. In the suites, the high spout of the GROHE Minta faucet, which was originally designed as a kitchen faucet, adds an elegant and stylish touch to the wash basins.
