The JC Mackintosh Flagship Store is a space designed to showcase its unique concept of wild bluefin tuna fishing, based on principles of Sustainability, Quality, and Animal Welfare. Estudio EEBA created an interior envelope made from recycled PET bottles, inspired by the rocky formations of the Tarifa coastline.
The premises are located on a corner within a neoclassical-influenced building on the street leading into the center of Tarifa. Visitors enter through a series of illuminated arches inspired by the Puerta de Jerez of the town, conceived as an initiatory tunnel. This passage, framed by Panno textiles, divides the main space into a retail area and a video room. Walking through it immerses visitors in the world of JC Mackintosh’s artisanal and sustainable wild bluefin tuna fishing—line-caught, by hand, made to order, and handled one by one.
The finishes in the main room include handcrafted tiles, lime mortar, and recycled PET—materials that combine tradition and modernity while reflecting the brand’s values. The cobalt blue color of the products stands out against the stone-like tones of the space, displayed as if set within cavities carved into rock. Several pink-toned plant masses enliven the space, serving as a metaphor for the sophistication and delicacy of dishes prepared with the so-called “Tuna of the Winds.”
