Contemporary Mediterranean Villa

PAZGERSH Architecture + Design as Architects

Materials and Products: Concrete Construction, Aluminum window frame, Parquet wood floors, Teak wooden deck, Glass handrails, Stucco coating and Oak Panels on elevations.

The program was planned for a family with three children. In planning G-house, the main design concept was preserving the existing garden. The garden contains of a typical Mediterranean fauna with a small orchard.

In the proposed plan, the balcony evolved into a connecting space between the existing and the new. The public spaces in the floor plan layout (Kitchen, Living Room and Dining Room) are arranged parallel to the balcony. These spaces open to the exterior through the balcony, both in views, as well as in orientation.

The house re-examines the boundaries of interior space on the ground level with the use of natural light and transparent glass elevations. These glass elevations on the ground floor are used as dynamic partitions, while the upper windows allow filtered sunlight into the space.

The design of the facades evolved through an analysis of precise proportions with a classical golden ratio, these proportions can be seen through out the entire house. In designing of the exterior elevations, a framing element is used to capture a segment of the gardens landscape scenery.

The house was planned while searching for an architectural language, both using local references with the combination contemporary Mediterranean elements.
