The project to establish a highly specialized Jagiellonian Life Science and Technology Park was launched by the Jagiellonian University in 2003. It was first developed by the Centre for Innovations, Technology Transfer and University Development (CITTRU), a JU unit responsible for supporting and developing entrepreneurship at the university. As the strategy adopted by the CITTRU was highly successful, in 2004 the project was taken to a new level by the establishment of a university limited liability company called the Jagiellonian Centre of Innovation which was to continue and expand the project.
