In this ground floor apartment, our challenge was to improve the integration of the interior spaces with the garden outside. The goal was to bring more light and the fell of the garden to the inside the apartment. 

To achieve this, a wood structured roof was designed to occupy part of the garden and under it, the new kitchen area. As it is, it feels like a veranda when the glass doors are open, surrounded by garden on both sides. 

The former kitchen used to be where the dining room is today. This change made it possible do remove all the walls except for the existing raw concrete pillars. With no interruption from the walls, we were able to reach the light from both sides of the social area. 

Since the original floor plan had not a clean design, we applied a texture to create a visual unit among the different areas. The rustic wooden floor reinforce the rustic concept. In the living area, a rack designed by us concentrates the equipment, TV and a fireplace, under a steel niche.On the other side of the living room, another joinery with the same materials of the TV set organize a home office area with a mobile table.  

On the dining room, a green panel macerates a pantry area.In the master bedroom, we made the doors to the garden bigger and followed the use of natural materials and neutral tones. The choice for lower furniture creates the sensation that the space is bigger. 

The master bathroom occupy the area of a former bedroom, now integrated with the garden. The variation of shades of grey in the tiles and finishing gives the bathroom a sophisticated feeling. The shower area also doubles as a sauna, that’s why a bench on the same material of the floor was designed inside. On the bathtub area, cover with glass, the pebbles on the floor creates the sensation of a bath on the garden.
