Márcia Leal Studio is an interior renovation of a small commercial space in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil, conceived as a hair studio that prioritizes experience, permanence, and emotional comfort. Designed for a single professional, the project explores how spatial organization and material choices can transform a neutral interior into an environment with strong identity and a welcoming atmosphere.

The layout is structured around a large multifunctional central table, which acts as the social and spatial core of the studio. More than a functional element, the table organizes circulation and daily activities, encouraging moments of pause, conversation, and waiting. All other functions — workstations, reception, storage, pantry, and bathroom — are arranged around it, forming a continuous and visually integrated space.

Materiality plays a key role in defining the project’s character. A continuous ceramic floor unifies the interior, while the central table in brushed terracotta quartzite introduces tactile weight and permanence. Exposed concrete columns and beams reveal the original structure of the building, reinforcing material honesty. A brick cobogó filters light and views, defining transitions without visual barriers. The selection of durable and timeless materials supports the studio’s intention to age naturally over time.

Furniture, vintage objects, and wooden elements bring personal references from the client, strengthening the connection between architecture, work, and everyday life. The result is a compact yet expressive space, where architecture is shaped by use, materiality, and the experience of those who inhabit it.
