The apartment occupies the entire floor of a building located in the Vomero district of Naples, in an area characterized by recently built residential architecture.
The interior spaces were poorly distributed and showed untapped spatial potential. The goal of the renovation, agreed upon with the clients—a family of four—was to enhance the beauty and environmental qualities of the apartment while significantly improving the layout of the interiors.
The relocation of the kitchen, which was previously situated next to the bedrooms, allowed for the creation of a well-defined night area—featuring a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and two children’s rooms with a separate bathroom—and a day area, which includes an open-plan kitchen-living room and a study. This intervention greatly improved the way the different spaces within the home are experienced.
The living area, which integrates the kitchen and study within it, becomes the focal point of the project: a bright, airy open space that can be used in various ways throughout the day. However, each area within the living space is designed to function independently and is characterized by unique features that make it stand out.
The kitchen is entirely enclosed by movable glass walls, allowing for multiple spatial and aesthetic configurations. The pleated glass of these partitions enhances this effect by only partially revealing the shapes and objects within, creating a sense of intrigue. When closed, the light filtering from inside creates a lantern-like effect with a strong visual impact.
The study is conceived as a hybrid, flexible space, created from a large equipped wall with sliding doors that conceal a computer workstation and shelving. This makes it easy to switch between different configurations as needed.
The master bedroom is designed as an independent mini-suite, with the bed positioned at the center of the room and a spacious walk-in closet behind it, which leads into the en-suite bathroom.
The common thread throughout the project is the use of white and green tones, walnut wood, and brushed steel—materials that evoke a sense of minimalism while maintaining a warm and welcoming domestic atmosphere.
