A very narrow plot, at a very dense neighborhood and traffic artery of the district Gracia of Barcelona, is the place of the new building which we transform into an urban rental housing building, with the maximal exploitation. Due to the small surface available, the work consists in doing 3 small simplex dwellings with a comfortable staircase and lift and 2 middle triplex dwellings as two detached houses with entrance directly through the secondary street.

The idea of the exterior layout is to maintain the classical composed facades of the old buildings of the district with vertical openings, with modern elements as the metal balconies. The ground floor is covered with painted steel to protect the building of vandalism and to differentiate the plinth of the rest of the volume.

The main idea for the interiors is to do open, flexible, and neutral spaces with neutral colors and durable materials, that every renter can put whatever furniture that matches. Opened kitchens and a system to get natural light into the spaces make it happen, in both typologies of dwelling.
