The main objective of this project is to harmoniously incorporate the residence into the island's paradisiacal environment. This challenge led to an architectural approach focused on contextualizing the building within the surrounding natural elements.

Our greatest source of inspiration was the local nature itself, seeking to create a project that would integrate perfectly with its surroundings. This approach is reflected in the choice of materials, such as wood and stone, which strengthen the connection between the home and the natural environment.

The owners, a couple who chose to retire to this private retreat in Angra dos Reis, outlined specific requirements for their new home. Accessibility was a primary concern, considering the installation of elevators and the design of accessible bathrooms, aiming to accommodate both their current and future needs.

A notable aspect of the project was the request that the residence could eventually be transformed into an exclusive guesthouse to accommodate the family. Prior to the project, the island housed several chalets to accommodate guests, and the idea is for the new structure to function as the central hub of the entire complex. This vision is reflected in the large space dedicated to the kitchen, equipped with all the necessary facilities, including a food preparation area, washing up, pantry, bar, barbecue, as well as service areas and restrooms for the employees.

The project program encompasses two floors.

On the ground floor, there is a space dedicated to social gatherings and guest meals. It includes a main hall with dining tables and a TV room, and an office designed to be the future reception area of ​​the inn. An important point to highlight are the large frames that connect the interior with the balcony, creating an integrated experience between the internal and external environment. The kitchen, with a notable glass window facing the sea, was designed considering the resident's passion for this landscape.

On the upper floor, there are the owners' private suites, larger and equipped with a closet and accessible bathrooms. Next to them are four more suites for guests, all with sea views provided by the openings of the wooden brise-soleils that allow a charming view without giving up privacy.

Despite the challenge of adapting the entire program within the topographical limitations of the island and local legislation, we completed the design phase with all needs and desires met. Of particular note is the successful appropriation of the construction in relation to the natural setting.
