Meeting room in Empoli

dooor as Manufacturers

Project by ACQ Studio, Florence

In the irregular configuration of the meeting room of an historical Italian company, order is restored by the blue, acoustically isolated volume defined by a system of mobile Dooor partitions.

The nearly 30-metre wide corpus consists of 28 modules connected to each other permanently by means of fixing springs or by magnets, to create openings in the exhibition spots if necessary.

Like a curtain, the doors invite you to enter a world of analogies and figures that refer to the best tradition of Italian pop design. The accents of Ettore Sottsass’s light briarwood alternate with the warm materiality of wood and pink granite. The use of the open or closed textile partition defines an ever-changing space, suitable for different modes of use, accessible through multiple openings with or without handles.

The soft playfulness of the forms, which also features in the rounded corners of the Dooor partitions, in the track that illuminates from above, doubling the space, as well as in the large circle, participates in the game of showing and showing off and in the main theme of the project that inspired ACQ Studio: theatricality around the product.

The space of the new meeting room defines a threshold, whose gentle rituality is also represented by the difference in colour and texture of the fabric: a leatherette with a white linen effect on the inside and a wool effect in warm shades of blue on the outside. A professional and theatrical working atmosphere, defined by the interplay of light, shadows, reflections in which Dooor textile walls are a protective and ephemeral element at the same time, a device for defining the space according to the needs of the stage.
