The city of Süßen offers a competition for the expansion of the school center Bizet.
An innovative concept of planning of a new campus, we envorced against the competitors and won the first prize.
An additional new building is planned in three modules for subject rooms, classrooms, classrooms for the special education and counseling center (SBBZ), administration, a cafeteria with kitchen, cafeteria and all-day rooms.
The new buildings are necessary because the buildings of the community school are no longer suitable for renovation. The planned demolition of the existing music pavilion and the community school building will make room for the expansion buildings. The teachers and students expect a future-oriented learning landscape that meets space requirements, allows the campus buildings and grounds to be barrier-free, and also provides future options for additions.
The message of Gaus Architekten concept is clear: the extension broadcasts openness and transparency, should not appear as a "foreign body" to the existing building, but should create a direct link to the local situation. The idea is to pick up on the small-scale nature of the surroundings through projections and recesses and to create various outdoor spaces. The separation of the different forms of traffic helps to secure pedestrian groups and bicycle traffic. The goal is to give the school complex an identity that accommodates different schools but is perceived as a single entity.
