Constructive memory

1. - Basement After the excavation a 30 cm. wall of reinforced concrete is constructed. This wall defines the lower enclosure. Inside an interior pillar system in the area of the locker room. The foundation of the perimeter wall is by footings. The pillars of intermediates by isolated footings. Then construct the deck slab of the locker room.

2. - Wireframe Comprises 10 trusses of 43, 7 m long separated 5, 6m. 7 trusses are supported by two pillars with a distance of 32.6 m. The trusses have a flight of 10, 8m and a maximum depth of 3.3 m. 2 trusses have a third pillar to generate braces. 1 is cantilevered truss

3. - Closings The cover is solved by light skinned.

The volume enclosure is made of polycarbonate sheets 50 cm wide and 40 mm thick. The sheets incorporate different colors. Special care was given to the corners. Instead of using edge profiles of aluminum, bent polycarbonate sheets.

The lower enclosure consists glass of 8 +8 laminated glass with solar control and low emissivity.

4. - Finishes The parquet basketball court is a specialized parquet oak finish Haro Stockholm.

The locker rooms are air conditioned.

The front telescopic stands has oak finish.

Memory

1.- Fluid limits

Instead of the image of an hermetic pavilion, here the intention is to give continuity from the inside space to the outside one.

The building is implemented to bury the court and the locker rooms. The schema allows to go through, without visual barriers, from the park to the covered platform, to the stands, and finally descending to the court.

2.- Fluid activity

The main figure is not the own pavilion but the activity flow that is produced: players, public and passers-by.

3.- Fluid light

The kind of light of the pavilion is not of the type of zenith, neither indirect to the north, nor diagonal; all of them corresponding to some kind of locked light. But in here the light is the kind of flowing light.

A big translucent roof made of colored polycarbonate levitates over the court allowing the light moving inside and outside freely. The sun protection is guaranteed by the big size overhangs in the South East and in the South West façades.

4.- Fluid air.

The pavilion hasn´t got any kind of windows. It is aired through fresh air entrances located in the courtyards. Warm air exits by chimneys located in the roof. The sensation reached is to be in an open space.

5.- Colour

The most remarkable element in the building is the cover in colored polycarbonate. To define the colors were considered two ideas. 5.1. - The colors mean. We wanted to connect the image of the building with the idea of energy and movement. So we chose a range of warm and hot colors.

5.2. - The colors change the perception of a body. We wanted the cover was thick and heavy object on the back that is transformed to almost vanishing in the cantilever. Inside the warm range, were chosen on the back dense colors such as red and magenta. As we approached the front were being replaced by more clear.
